To unlock Hard Mode, simply complete the game on Normal mode.

Collect 75% of the items in the game, and you'll see Samus outside of her suit after beating the final boss. Collect all items, and see a special ending with Dark Samus.

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Hint: Quadraxis Quicker
In Quadraxis' second phase, you don't have to destroy the sonic emitter by using the Echo Visor. You can simply use the Screw Attack to destroy it. To get high enough though, climb up its legs.

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Hint: Charged Normal Ammo
Even when you run out of Light/Dark Beam ammo, you can still use it. Set your gun to Light/Dark Beam (when you've run out of ammo Light/Dark Beam ammo), Charge it (with Charge Beam) and release. It will be a normal Light/Dark Beam shot, not a charged one, even though you have no ammo. This can be done infinitely.
