Tomb Raider: Legend Hint - Time Trial Shortcut
Having trouble with time trials? Try completing the final time trial in Bolivia against the final boss first (it's a boss fight, and it's easy). This unlocks the one-hit death cheat. You can input the cheat when the cinematics are playing at the beginning of a stage and make enemies and certain bosses die quickly, saving you some much needed time. It also makes the motorbike races faster to finish. Note that only one cheat may be turned on at a time.
So you have unlocked the One Hit kill cheat but still are having a hard time with some of the time trials, right? Here is a truly awesome glitch that will ensure you are able to win those time trials and unlock all of those Achievements in Tomb Raider Legend regardless of how long it actually takes you to get through the level.
Step One: Load up the Replay Level menu and choose your level (example Nepal.)
Step Two: Select the Time Trial difficulty.
Step Three: Once the level begins and you confirm that the time trial clock is counting down, immediately pause the game and choose quit. This will bring you back to the Replay Level selection screen.
Step Four: Now from the Replay Level menu again choose the same level (example Nepal.)
Step Five: Make sure that the default difficulty settings are correct - it should default back to the original difficulty setting that you completed the level on, so you will not choose the Time Trial setting this time.
Step Six: Enter the One Hit death cheat during the initial cinema of the level. (Note - the Timer should not be present since you are not replaying in Time trial mode now.)
Step Seven: Play the level as you normally would and once you reach a mid point where you are confident that you can beat the level within the time trials time limits (example the Monastery checkpoint of Nepal), You should immediately kill yourself or let your self die.
You should now respawn at the last check point with an interesting glitch. The timer is running now and you have the default amount of time remaining to finish the rest of the level. (Note - the time remaining will be the default amount needed for each respective level regardless of what checkpoint in the level you die at, 13:40 for Nepla as an example.)
Step Eight: Complete the level and enjoy the rewards that follow. Once you reach the end you will be greeted with the appropriate unlockables and Achievements.
Another interesting thing about this Glitch is that when you look at the Replay Level menu, you will see that the Time Trial completion status is set to Yes even though the Completion time shown may end up being way beyond the time trial limit for that level. An example of this for me was Peru. The Time Trial limit is 21:30 but my actual time shown for completion of Peru was 24:06 but I still was given the Infinite MG Ammo Cheat code afterwards!
